NTU-RPI-DTU Innovation Workshop June 2013 in the Field of

Energy and Environmental Applications of Nanotechnology

The objectives of this course will give you:

  • Experience in the challenges of international research collaboration and project planning.
  • Developing skills in the creative application of learned knowledge in innovative ideas for solving real-world research challenges.
  • Writing a report in international collaboration.
  • Gain experience in presentation, defence and evaluation of your work on an international stage in Singapore.

In the course you will work in an international team of students and supervisors from NTU-RPI-DTU. An essential part of this course will take place in Singapore June 18-28th.

 


 

Course Practicalities

Expenses : It is decided by each of the participating institutions to what extent expenses are paid by the institutions and/or the course students. For Students enrolled at DTU, travel from DTU, and within Singapore, accommodation at NTU, and food during the course is covered. DTU students will only have to pay for the spare time activities they engage in.

 


 

Course plan:

  • 1. May: Deadline for applying for the course.
                 DTU enrolled students apply by sending a max 1 page letter of motivation/CV to krmo@nanotech.dtu.dk
  • 2. May:  Selection of top applicants to join the course.
  • 13. May:  Form international student groups of 3 students with an international team of supervisors among the available projects.
  • 3. June:  Start reading up for the project work
  • 10. June: Start project work at home institution
  • ~17. June:  Travel to NTU in Singapore and work together in your groups with supervisors on the project report and presentation.
  • 27. June: Hand in report and prepare peer review questions to other group.
  • 28. June: Present and defend your groups project in Singapore.

 


 

Workload & Assessment:  Effective work load is 3 weeks full time work or 5 ECTS but additional time will be spent travelling and on social activities in Singapore. There is a fail/pass assessment based on the report, presentation and defense. At DTU this course is a 'special course'.

 


 

Who can join: The course is primarily aimed at students at the their first year after achieving a BSc degree with background in nanotechnology. Depending on number of applicants we may lower this restriction.
At DTU: From the applicants the 5 best students will be selected for the course in june 2013.
Please check up  on the available projects – if you have little experience in these subjects you will have to read more up on it.
