Design a smartphone app

  • Define user needs related to a smartphone app with a complexity similar to http://www.sensible.dtu.dk
  • Conceptualize a smartphone prototype app design utilizing sensors such as  http://funf.org/journal.html
  • Translate goals into usage scenarios by defining <user> <needs> <value> EPIC statements
  • Transform EPIC <user> <needs> <value> statements into UML use cases and sequence diagrams
  • Define user interaction in your app related to gestures, affordances, feedback and visualization
  • Select relevant mobile design patterns supporting your concept
  • Implement the design patterns in a smartphone prototype interface using Axure
  • Validate the design based on a 'think aloud' usability test with predefined tasks
  • Incorporate the user feedback into a second iteration validated by a heuristics test

 

 

Hand-in:

please upload a short description of your concept to the assignment folder no later than november 26 as a PDF with a scope similar to those applied in the Venture Cup Idea Competition http://www.venturecup.dk/betalab/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Business-Plan-Idea-Competition.pdf  -  subsequently document your design from a user experience angle by generating an Axure design manual with an AxShare URL link to the protopype no later than december 9, 2012
